Second Half Goals Lift Carroll to 2-0 Win Over Lady Owls

HELENA, Mont. – Oregon Tech dominated possession and the statistical numbers, but two second half goals from Jaymee Sheridan lifted Carroll College to a 2-0 victory over the Lady Owls at Nelson Stadium.

The loss for OIT (4-2-3, 3-1-2 CCC) ended a 6-match unbeaten streak, despite a 22-10 edge in shots and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

"Sometimes, when it rains it pours," said Lady Owls head coach Tom Eichelkraut. "Our team was the better team, but the score reflected a committed defensive Carroll side that made good on their opportunities. We had more than plenty of opportunities to score – but that is soccer. We have to find a way to bounce back quick, as we face two of the stronger sides in the conference next weekend."

Tech took 14 of the first 19 shots on the day, but Carroll (8-3-3, 5-2-1) keeper Sarah Conway was a wall – making five first half saves and finished with nine saves for the match.

The Saints used a counter-attack to break the scoreless tie – with Sheridan ripping a shot in the 64th minute that was deflected by OIT keeper Sydni Nakamura, but the forward was able to punch home the rebound for the lead. Ten minutes later, Sheridan drove home a cross from Emily Funseth to add to the lead.

Maddie Miller led OIT with five shot attempts, including four on frame, with Kiah Wetzell attempting four.

The Owls return home next weekend for matches against two Top-25 sides – vs. No. 22 College of Idaho on Friday and a Saturday match vs. No. 24 Eastern Oregon.
