Tech Earns Key 2-1 Road Win at Carroll College

HELENA, Mont. – Dylan Nakagawa made his first collegiate goal a game-winner, converting a penalty kick early in the second half, lifting Oregon Tech to a key 2-1 victory over Carroll College at Nelson Stadium.

The Owls (7-1-2, 6-1 CCC) ran their win streak to four and improved to 4-0 on the road this season in Cascade Conference play.

"The energy from the boys today was great to see," said OIT head coach Sean McManamon. "They bounced back and stayed composed after going down a goal. We knew we would get the result we wanted, we just had to stay the course. We were able to kick the door down and get the win. Am proud of how we battled and finished up a 6-point weekend."

The Fighting Saints (4-6-1, 3-5-1) grabbed the lead in the 19th minute, as Blake Waldman drove home a Phillip Camacho cross – one of only six shots on the day by the hosts.

Tech got the equalizer in the 25th minute, as Ryan Pearson launched a long throw-in, finding Rosendo Juarez-Flores in the middle of the box, ripping a one-timer into the right corner of the net.

The score would hold until the 60th minute, as a foul just inside the box gave Nakagawa an opportunity from the spot – lining a low drive inside the right post for the lead.

The OIT defense did the rest – holding the Saints without a shot on frame over the final 30 minutes.

The Owls finished with a 15-6 edge in shots and a 7-2 lead in corner kicks.

OIT returns home next weekend, hosting College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon.
