HOME UNBEATEN STREAK COMES TO AN END: It took an opponent 1,833 days to finally defeat the Lady Owls on the turf at the OIT Soccer Field, as College of Idaho handed Tech a 1-0 loss. OIT had not lost at home since a 2-0 defeat by Eastern Oregon on Oct. 7, 2017 – a string of 37 matches dating back over five years. The Lady Owls have a combined 103-57-16 on their own pitch since 2000 and have a stellar 34-3-5 mark since the new field turf surface was installed on campus.

LADY OWLS GET DEFENSIVE VS. TOP-25 TEAMS: Facing back-to-back Top-25 teams, the Lady Owls back line had a quality weekend, limiting C of I and EOU to 11 shots on frame and one goal in the two matches. Key to the success was the play of outside backs Kara Morris and Logan Kashima, along with the play inside of Karly White and Jissel Valencia-Mendez.

ADAIR FILLS IN AT KEEPER: Pressed into starting duty for the weekend, back-up keeper Halle Adair did an admirable job against two of the more potent offensive teams in the Cascade Conference – recording a career high five saves in both matches. Against C of I, the junior faced 13 total shots and five corner attempts – allowing a goal off a set piece, while against EOU, she faced 16 shots and five corners – posting her first-ever shutout.

INTO THE STARTING LINE-UP: With injuries plaguing the squad, the Lady Owls pieced together a pair of different line-ups for their weekend games – with freshman Kaelin Ness making her first career start, freshman Miranda Valle making her second start, with junior Olivia Kreiser and freshman Ashley Hart each making their third start of 2022. Six players have started all 11 games in 2022 – Maddie Miller, Sylvia Sloss, Logan Kashima, Jissel Valencia-Mendez, Karly White and Kara Morris.

PLAYING A FULL 90: Both Karly White and Kara Morris have been mainstays on the pitch, playing all 990 minutes this season. Three others have played more than 900 minutes – as Maddie Miller (985) has sat just five minutes this season, Sylvia Sloss (951) has rested just 39 minutes and Jissel Valencia-Mendez (932) taking a break for 58 minutes.

OFFENSE LOOKING FOR A GOAL: The Owls have been unable to cash in on their opportunities, failing to score a goal in three-straight matches for the first time since 2016. During the stretch, Tech has attempted 36 shots – including 16 on goal – and added 15 corner kick opportunities.

ANOTHER DRAW: The 0-0 draw against Eastern marked the fourth time this season OIT has played a scoreless draw – the 16th match in program history ending without a goal scored. The four ties this season are a school record, surpassing the previous mark of three from both the 2018 and 2019 campaigns.

PLAYOFF PICTURE WITH FOUR GAMES REMAINING: With just two weeks left in the regular-season, the jockeying for position for the Cascade Conference Championships is in full swing. Five teams have secured bids to the 8-team tournament – Northwest, College of Idaho, Corban, Southern Oregon and Eastern Oregon – with NU holding a slim 2-point advantage over C of I in the standings (the two teams will meet the final weekend, potentially to determine the regular-season title). Sitting at 12 points in the table, the Lady Owls can clinch their sixth-straight postseason bid (and 12th all-time) with a victory in one of their final four matches and a loss by Providence and Multnomah.

THIS WEEK IN THE CCC: Along with OIT and Southern traveling to the Willamette Valley for dates at Corban and Bushnell, both Rocky Mountain and Providence head to Portland for games at Multnomah and Warner Pacific – which could clear up the No. 8 spot in the standings. Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho make the journey to Helena for a key match-up vs. Carroll, while Evergreen and Northwest meet on Saturday.

OPPONENT PREVIEW – CORBAN: The weekend starts with a key match-up at Corban (9-2-3, 5-1-3 CCC), as the Warriors are among the top defensive teams in the circuit, surrendering just eight goals in their 14 matches. Keeper Makida Herbert (0.60 GAA, .881 save %) has been the anchor, helping the squad to 10 shutouts. Offensively, Jamine Blava (7 goals, 2 assists) is the top scorer, with Alysia Alvarado (4 goals, 1 assist) and Fatima Jimenez (2 goals, 3 assists) key playmakers. Corban holds a 13-17-4 series edge, including seven wins in Salem, but OIT looks to add to a 2-game win streak over the Warriors.

OPPONENT PREVIEW – BUSHNELL: Saturday, Tech makes the hour drive south to Springfield, meeting winless Bushnell (0-14, 0-9). Opponents have outscored the Beacons, 63-11 – allowing nearly 20 shots per game – but BU played their best soccer of the season last Friday in a 3-2 loss at Providence. The trio of Dejah Wallet (5 goals, 3 assists), Sydney Peterson (2 goals, 1 assist) and Emily Puita (1 goal, 3 assists) lead the attack, with Madison Bender (4.50 GAA, .563 save %) playing all 1,350 minutes in goal. OIT takes a 6-match win streak in the series into the match-up, with the Owls holding an 18-2-1 series lead.

RECORD BOOK WATCH: Senior Maddie Miller currently ranks among the career Top-10 in OIT history – ranking No. 1 in game-winning goals (10), No. 3 in shots (190) and No. 4 all-time in both goals scored (31) and total points scored (65). In addition, Sydni Nakamura ranks No. 8 all-time in shutouts (5) and No. 9 in goalie wins (7).

NEW OVERTIME RULES: The 2022 season will feature a new set of rules for games tied at the end of regulation. Beginning this year, any regular-season match that is tied after 90 minutes will be declared a draw – no overtime period will be played. All postseason games that are tied after 90 minutes will feature two 10-minute overtime periods – that will be played out in its entirety – regardless of how many goals are scored. If the postseason overtime period ends in a tie, a penalty shootout will determine the team that advances.

LOOKING AHEAD: OIT closes out the regular-season at home, hosting Multnomah on Friday (Oct. 28) and Warner Pacific on Saturday (Oct. 29).
