PORTLAND, OR. — The Oregon Tech Lady Owls (14-4, 7-4) held off a late surge from the Multnomah Lady Lions (3-15, 3-8) to win their seventh straight game (not including COVID-19 forfeitures). The victory for Tech moves them within a game of the top four in the CCC standings, ahead of their big upcoming road trip.

With the opportunity to earn a road sweep of the Portland schools, Tech held off a late comeback attempt from Multnomah to win their sixth straight game in conference play.
In the opening period, the Lady Owls used their patented strong start to grab a 20-12 lead over Multnomah.
Freshman Shelby Blodgett grabbed six points and five rebounds which paced Tech through the opening period.
The hot start for OIT was also generated from some elite defense as the Lady Owls held Multnomah to just 4-of-17 shooting from the floor in the first eight minutes.
Tech would further their advantage in the second period, as Blodgett added nine more points to bring her first-half total to 15.
After outscoring the Wolves 18-14 in the second, the Lady Owls found themselves with a 38-26 lead at the break.
Multnomah would come out strong in the second half and cut Tech's advantage to just six at the end of the third quarter. The Lady Lions began to light the nets on fire as Shaila Mays caught fire from the floor.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Lions continued to mount a comeback, eventually pulling ahead 55-53 with 5:24 left.
Facing adversity and a home crowd, Tech would surge back into the lead as Tech used a balanced offense and timely buckets to secure the victory.
Tech finished with three players in double figures, highlighted by a double-double from Shelby Blodgett:
Shelby Blodgett: 18 points on 8-of-17 shooting with eleven rebounds
Maddyson Tull: 12 points on 4-of-8 shooting
Olivia Sprague: 11 points on 3-of-10 shooting with five rebounds
OIT also got a strong performance out of Melissa Lee, who scored seven points and racked up twelve rebounds.
Multnomah was led by Shaila Mays, who scored a game-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting.
Tech will return to action next week when they travel to face Eastern Oregon (12-7, 9-7) on Friday, then The College of Idaho on Saturday (12-7, 6-5).
