Hustlin’ Owls Fly Past Multnomah For 11-0 Start to CCC Play

PORTLAND, OR. — The (R.V.) Oregon Tech Hustlin' Owls (14-5, 11-0) used a career-high 22 points from Kellen Gerig to cruise a 90-63 victory over the Multnomah Lions (8-11, 4-7) on Saturday night. The victory for Oregon Tech marks their best start to conference play in program history as the Hustlin' Owls improved to 11-0.

Following the victory, HC Justin Parnell said: "We really defended tonight. Their bigs are a load and I thought we did just about as good of a job as we could do. Scotty Burge and Harrison Steiger were phenomenal on Richardson as well. We continue to play together on the offense end. That's a non negotiable for us."

OIT seized the opportunity to remain undefeated in CCC play with a 90-63 victory on Saturday night.

After a competitive back-and-forth first 10 minutes, Tech began to pull away from Multnomah like they've done with most of their CCC opponents this season.

The Hustlin' Owls remained efficient in their shooting, firing at nearly a 60% clip in the first 20 minutes.

Tech did a solid job containing Multnomah's stout bigs and limited the Lions to just 38% shooting in the first half.

After a strong first half, Tech went into the locker room at half leading 44-28.

Tech continued to cruise in the second half as Kellen Gerig wreaked havoc on the Multnomah defense.

Gerig scored 14 in the second half en route to a career-high 22-point performance on 10-of-13 shooting.

The Hustlin' Owls would go on to outscore the Lions 46-35 in the second half, soaring to victory.

Tech finished with four players in double figures, highlighted by Gerig's big night:

Kellen Gerig: 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting with eight rebounds

Keegan Shivers: 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting with six rebounds

Jamison Guerra: 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting with five assists

Harrison Steiger: 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting

Multnomah was led by Tyrese Taylor, who scored a game-high 23 points on 6-of-13 shooting.

Tech will return to action next week when they travel to face Eastern Oregon (11-8, 5-6) on Friday, then #13 The College of Idaho on Saturday (16-3, 10-1).
