Hustlin’ Owls Fire 5 Past Linfield

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. | Oregon Tech (2-0) blasted five goals past Division 3 side, Linfield (0-2) on Sunday afternoon. The 5-0 victory matches their largest of the calendar year, and marks their third straight shutout dating back to last season.

The Owls outs-hot Linfield 15-2 in the 1st half but were only able to notch one goal out of their 15 attempts. Oddly enough, their one goal came directly off a corner when Jake Mitchell bent in an "Olimpico" goal.

However, in the second half, the Owls were much more clinical in their attempts.

On 12 second half shots, Tech slotted home four goals, which paced them to the 5-goal victory.

The goals for Tech were scored by Mitchell, Andrew Pasang, and Arthur Proost who bagged a brace for the visiting side. The other goal Tech scored was credited as an own goal to a Linfield defender.

Joel Witts got the start in goal but was later relieved by Connor Caslin. Each goalie saw little pressure on their side of the field, and Witts only had to make one save on the afternoon that came early in the game.

Tech finished the game outshooting the Wildcats 26-5 and put half of those 26 on frame.

The Owls will return to play next week, when they host Simpson University in Klamath Falls on Thursday.
