GULF SHORES, Ala. –[RESULTS] The first day of the 2021 NAIA Men's and Women' Outdoor Track & Field Championship finished with the Hustlin' Owls in first place with the Lady Owls 5th at the Mickey Miller Blackwell Complex in Gulf Shores, Ala.
 
The Owl men have 12 -points through three finished events, a fifth-place finish by Mark French in the 10,000m (30:47.04) along with a second-place finish by Hunter Drops in the javelin (66.24m) Tech's Thomas Dodgen is sixth after the first part of the decathlon events.
 
The Lady Owls have 10-points all from the Javelin where Alex Conley (Pictured) finished 2nd (46.57m), and Aarika Brooks was 7th with a throw of (42.75m)
 
Tech's Nick McMillen was 14th in the 10K (32:06.50) with Jonas Hartline 17th (32:33.90)
 
For the women, Tech's Brittan Bratscher was 17th in the Javelin (35.15m) with Amber Miller (34.00m) 18th.
 
"After a strong showing on Day 1, Tech athletes Thomas Dodgen, Angel Valdez, Chris Ramirez, and Mark French are looking forward to building on the success," said assistant coach Bill Reinhard. "We are well prepared and ready to compete!"

The second day of the 2021 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championship will take place on Thursday, May 25. The day will open with the decathlon events.
 
For the Owls on Day 2:
Thomas Dodgen will finish the decathlon events at 8:00 am pacific
French, and Chris Ramirez will run the 5K at 6:35 pm pacific
Angel Valdez will run in the 400m at 2:40 pm pacific
