Four Oregon Tech Owls Named CCC Players of the Week

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Four Oregon Tech athletes have been recognized as the Cascade Conference Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Players of the Week for their performances during the period of May 3-9, 2021.
Sarah Abramson was named Pitcher of the Week while
Maggie Buckholz was named Player of the Week both for softball. Tech's
Thomas Dodgen was named Field Outdoor Athlete of the Week and
Mark French was named Track Outdoor Athlete of the Week.
Abramson, a five-foot-10 junior pitcher from Milwaukie, Ore., led the Owls to the CCC Softball Tournament Championship presented by U.S. Bank, pitching OIT to all four wins with a .52 ERA. She threw 27 innings over the course of the three days, including three complete-game shutouts, with one coming as a no-hitter in the opening round against Warner Pacific University.
Buckholz, a five-foot-seven sophomore right fielder from Silverton, Ore., had a great weekend at the plate, including a three-run back-breaking home run over top-ranked SOU that pushed the Tech lead from 2-0 to 5-0. She finished the CCC Softball Championship Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, batting .538 with seven hits, three runs and four RBIs.
The Owls softball team earned an automatic berth in the 40-team NAIA Softball Championships with winning the CCC Championship Tournament this past weekend and is now waiting to see where they will go for the 40-team field to be announced by the NAIA on Tuesday at 2:00 pm during the selection show on Play NAIA on facebook.
Dodgen, a junior from Adin, Calif., won the Canis Latrans Muti Qualifier on Sunday. He won the decathlon event with 6492 points, hitting an NAIA "A" in the decathlon and is now fifth in the nation.
French, a senior from Tualatin, Ore., hit an NAIA "A" mark in the 5K, breaking the school record by 20 seconds. He clocked in with a time of 14:25 and is now No.1 in the NAIA in the 5K event.
