RESULTS

ASHLAND, Ore.— Oregon Tech's Thomas Dodgen (Pictured by Josh McDermott) currently sits in 3rd place after the first day and five events of the Decathlon at the Cascade Conference Multi Championships being held at Southern Oregon University. Tech's Hunter Drops is in 6th place.

In the women's Heptathlon, Tech's Ally Odell is 12th and Aarika Brooks 15th after the first four events of day 1.

Dodgen finished 2nd in the high jump (1.88m), 3rd in the long jump (6.46m) and 3rd in the 400 51.25 to highlight his day.

Drops was 2nd the long jump (6.49m), and 5th in the shot put (11.49m)

"The men had a great first day," said head coach Jack Kegg. "Thomas had 5 of 6 dec events that were personal records today being the100m, long jump, high jump, 400m and first day score. Hunter, not to be out done, was 6 for 6, adding a shot PR to the other 5.  This start makes me very excited for tomorrow. Hunter is a national qualifier in two of the five events left and Thomas is much improved in the five events of the second day."

Odell was 4th in the shot put (9.69m) and 8th in the high jump for Tech.

Brooks' best event so far was the 200 as she finished 11th (27.23)

"The freshman ladies had a good first day with both Aarika and Ally starting the day with season's best in the hurdles," commented Kegg. "Then they continued to be very strong in the other three events.  I think they both can move up in the standings tomorrow."

Events continue tomorrow at Southern Oregon University.
