CALDWELL, Idaho—The Oregon Tech (16-20, 11-11 CCC) offense combined for 26-hits and 22-runs in sweeping a Cascade Collegiate Conference doubleheader (7-3, and 15-9) from College of Idaho (18-23, 10-16 CCC) Saturday at Wolfe Field.
"Today was a great example of our guys sticking to the process and making great adjustments throughout the game," said head coach
Jacob Garsez. "We are developing our identity. We look forward to competing again tomorrow."
Game 1: Oregon Tech 7 College of Idaho 3
Dalton Daily went 3-for-4 with two doubles and
Patrick Arman (Pictured) tossed a complete game as Oregon Tech won the series opener 7-3.
Daily started the scoring with his first double in the first as Tech scored twice in the inning. A
Zack Stockton RBI double in the second inning gave the visiting Owls a 4-0 lead.
The Yotes answered with 2-run of their own in the bottom of the inning, then added a run in the third to make it a 4-3 game.
Tech added to the lead with one-run in each the 6
th, 7
th, and 8
th and held on for the 7-3 win.
Arman went the distance spreading-out 8-hits with four-strikeouts to improve to 5-1 on the season.
Game 2: Oregon Tech 15 College of Idaho 9
Oregon Tech used a 6-run fifth inning and a 5-run eighth getting home runs from
Kellen Mendez and Stockton to erase a 7-2 College of Idaho lead, as the Owls completed a Saturday sweep.
Tech opened the game with 2-runs in the first highlighted by a
Mitchel Swanson RBI single.
CI answered 3-runs on 4-hits in the bottom of the inning.
The Yotes went up 4-2 with a run in the 2
nd, then they scored 3-runs in the fourth to go up 7-2 on a Mathew Clay 3-run blast.
Then Tech exploded for 6-runs in the 5
th highlighted by back-to-back home runs from Mendez and Stockton to take an 8-7 lead.
Back came College of Idaho with two-runs in 6
th to back in front 9-8.
Tech would be the only team to score the rest of the way, taking a 10-9 lead in the 7
th on a
Michael Tarakhchyan RBI triple.
Jesse Dunham replaced
Jacob Miller in the 5
th as Dunham picked up the win to improve to 2-4 on the year on the mound.
Kaleb Keelean,
Micah Jio, Swanson, Mendez, Stockton, and Tarakhchyan all had two-hits each for the Owls.
The Yotes and Owls will finish the four game series Sunday with a doubleheader scheduled for 10:00 AM (Pacific) in Caldwell.
