Great Falls, MT. – Oregon Tech advanced to 14-0 for the 1st time in program history, sweeping the series over Providence University. The Lady Owls (14-0) beat the Argos (0-4), 10-2 and 19-2 on Saturday via run rule in another strong offensive showing.
Sarah Abramson picked up her 8th win of the season to improve to 8-0, and McKenzie Staub improved to 6-0.
Kaila Mick led the Owls offensively over the weekend, with five hits.
Head coach
Greg Stewart on his team's efforts this weekend, "It was really good to see some of our young players step up and produce in key moments today. Overall, it was a great all around team effort this weekend."
Game One: Oregon Tech 10 Providence 2 (5)
Tech grabbed a 2-0 lead in the Top of the 1st, via two RBI singles from
Kaila Mick and
Jensen Becker.
The Lady Owls would extend their lead in the 2nd Inning, via a Solo Home Run from
Jayce Seavert, which was her first of the season.
However, Seavert wouldn't let her 1st Home Run of the season be her only one of the day. In the Top of the 3rd Inning, Seavert homered again, this one a 3-RBI HR, to extend Tech's lead to 7-0.
Tech would tack on two more in the 4th and one in the 5th, to push their lead to 10-0.
Providence would pick up 2 runs in the Bottom of the 5th, but that wouldn't end up being enough to avoid the mercy rule.
Lady Owls Pitcher
Sarah Abramson was solid again improving her record to 8-0 on the season. Abramson threw 5 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits, walking 3 batters, and striking out 8.
McKenna Armantrout, Mick, Becker, and Seavert all had a team-high 2 hits for the Owls.
Logan Nunes and Becker had a team-high 2 RBIs.
Game Four: Oregon Tech 19 Providence 2 (5)
The 1st Inning was a competitive one with the Owls grabbing 2 runs in the Top of the 1st Inning, and the Argos grabbing one in the bottom half. The Owls grabbed their two runs off of RBIs from Jantzi and Businger, and took a 2-1 lead to the 2nd.
The Owls would blow the game open in the 2nd, scoring 8 runs to push their advantage to 10-1.
In the 4th inning the Owls grabbed 7 more runs which extended their lead to 19-2, which was good enough to hold for the mercy rule win after 5-innings.
Tech's offense wouldn't be denied in another strong offensive outing.
Kaila Mick was 3-4, with
2 RBIs,
Aubrie Businger was 2-3 with 3 RBIs and the pitcher from Game 1,
Sarah Abramson, was 1-1 with a Grand Slam.
Staub picked up the Win for OIT, her 6th of the year pitching 3 innings, and giving up 2 runs on 5 hits while striking out 3.
The Lady Owls will return to action on Friday, when they host a 4 game series vs. Bushnell University
