Women's Soccer

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.— Oregon Tech (8-1) displayed resolute defending en route to their 4th straight win, and 4th straight shutout. Tech claimed the victory over rival Southern Oregon (4-2-1) 1-0 in game 1 of this two-game weekend series.

"Today was a special day," said head coach
Casey Tate. "We wanted to play for our seniors Amy, Abby, Sydney, Ari and Kyra. SOU is a good team and it took everything we had to pull it out. Great to see senior
Kyra Mull get the winning goal. We left it all on the field and will have to do it again tomorrow. So proud of these young women."
In what was a defensive stalemate most of the night, Tech took advantage on one of the few opportunities they got:
36th Minute --
Kyra Mull used some quick thinking to intercept the pass from the Raiders' keeper. Mull weaved her way into a scoring position and slotted the Owls ahead 1-0.
Of the Owls' 4 first half shots, Mull's was the one that rippled the net and put Tech ahead at the half.
For a team like OIT who blitz down the attacking third very often, only recording 1 corner kick and 4 total shots was uncharacteristic but nobody was complaining.
In the 2nd half, resolute defending from each side was on display, but it was Tech who managed the tempo.
The Hustlin' Owls didn't allow SOU to record 1 second half shot which would not allow the Raiders a chance to win the match.
With the win, Tech moves to a 1st place tie with Corban in the CCC West Division standings as each team has 18 divisional points.
The Owls will return to play tomorrow to host Southern Oregon once again.
