Owls Snap #1 Southern Oregon’s Win Streak, Settle for Split

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.— #5 Oregon Tech (22-3, 9-3 CCC) snapped #1 Southern Oregon's team-record 19-game winning streak with a 14-6 drubbing of the Raiders in the first game Saturday as the Owls salvaged the conference finale after Southern Oregon (26-2, 11-1 CCC) swept the first two games on Friday. The Raiders bounced back to win game 2, on the non-conference game, 6-2 at John and Lois Stilwell Stadium.

Oregon Tech head coach Greg Stewart said this about his team's efforts, "I am really proud of these ladies and how they responded in game one today.  We gained some valuable experience from playing a really good team these last four games.  I am looking forward to seeing how much better we are going to get as the year goes on."

Game Three: Oregon Tech 14 Southern Oregon 5 (6)

Southern Oregon got on the board first as they grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the 2nd off an RBI single, and advancing on a wild pitch.

In the bottom of the 2nd, Tech would chip away, as Aubrie Businger used the big fly to cut the SOU lead to 2-1.

Both teams would go quiet in the 3rd, but it was SOU who grew their lead in the 4th.

A homer from Katrina Winterburn, and a 2RBI single from Riley Donavan pushed the Raiders lead to 5-1.

But that wouldn't last long.

Tech came right back in the 5th, tying the game at 5 with a 4-run frame. Kennedy Jantzi hit a 3 run bomb, her NAIA and CCC leading 12th of the year. Businger then went back-to-back for her second home run on the day, and her eighth of the year that tied the game at 5.

In the 6th, the Owls would drop the hammer, scoring 9-runs which led to a run-rule victory. Klum, Mick, Armantrout, and Businger all picked up RBIs in the inning; but it was Jensen Becker (pictured) who hit the walk-off 3 run homer for the Owls.

McKenzie Staub picked up the win for OIT, her 11th of the year.

Jensen Becker was 4-4 at the plate for Tech but Businger accounted for 8 of the Owls' 14 runs.

Game Four: Southern Oregon 6 Oregon Tech 2 Non-Conference

Southern Oregon got off to an early lead once again, and this time they would never looked back, leading from start to finish.

The Raiders picked up 2 in the 1st, 2 in the 2nd, 1 in the 3rd, and 1 in the 4th, en route to grabbing a 6-0 lead over Tech. This flurry of offense was highlighted by a plethora of RBI singles for SOU.

Tech would pull 2 back in the bottom of the 4th, scoring 2 off an error.

But that wouldn't be enough for the Owls to comeback, as the hot bats from the last game cooled off.

McKenzie Staub picked up the loss for the Owls in the circle falling to 11-2.

Sarah Abramson threw 3 solid scoreless innings in relief.

Tech will travel to Northwest University next week to face off against an Eagles' team they've already swept this year.
