Miller Hat Trick Leads Owls Past Beacons 8-0

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.— The Oregon Tech Lady Owls (6-1) blew out the Bushnell Beacons (0-8), 8-0, in an offensive onslaught on Sunday afternoon. Maddie Miller(pictured) was at the helm again, scoring 3 goals, good enough for her 2nd Hat Trick of the season. Tech out shot the Beacons 26-3 en route to the most goals they've scored in the Casey Tate era.

"We started the game really well!," said Tate. "A good play from Abby Herbert to go along with a goal for Miller and Ortiz. Followed by a fantastic strike from Kyra Cambra. Miller with two more quality goals in the 2nd half. Kiah Wetzell with her 1st collegiate goal and Kyra with a nice goal to top it off. Alyx and the back 4 with a good performance to hold the shutout.overall a good team performance, but need to be ready for another one tomorrow.

In the first half, the Lady Owls peppered the Bushnell goal left-and-right. Tech out-shot the visiting Beacons 16-1, and displayed some very solid build-up play.

4th Minute -- Abigail Herbert opened the scoring for Tech just 3:14 into the match, slotting home a goal that fell to her feet after the goalie saved the initial shot.

11th Minute -- Off a beautiful corner-kick cross from Mehana Ortiz, Miller got on the end of it for her 1st goal of the night, to extend the Owls lead to 2-0.

21st Minute -- After assisting the 2nd goal, it was time for Ortiz to find the back of the net. Ortiz ripped a shot from long range that smashed the netting putting Tech ahead 3-0.

36th Minute -- The great work from Ortiz wasn't over yet, as she assisted Kyra Cambra who slotted a shot from outside the box just past the outstretched Bushnell keeper.

60th Minute -- At the 59:05 mark, Miller and Ortiz would experience some deja vu. As Ortiz took the corner, her peach of a cross found Miller once again who finished with composure to put the Owls ahead 5-0.

67th Minute -- Kiah Wetzell was the next Lady Owl in line to get a goal as Cambra assisted her through, and Wetzell finished well into the bottom right corner.

79th Minute -- At the 78:55 mark it was officially Miller time. Miller slotted home a gorgeous free-kick into the bottom left corner for the hat-trick and the Owls 7th goal of the match.

88th Minute -- In the 88th, Kyra Mull would wrap up the scoring for Tech. Mull would take advantage of a miscue in the back and slot home the final goal for the Owls which was good enough for an 8-0 victory.

The Owls out shot Bushnell 26-3 in the match, while putting 15 of those on frame to the Beacons 1.

Tech moves to 4-1 in the CCC standings, and 6-1 on the year.

The Lady Owls will return to play tomorrow to host Bushnell one more time at 12:00 pm on the OIT Soccer Field.
