Lady Owls Picked Third in CCC Preseason Media Poll
Lady Owls Picked Third in CCC Preseason Media Poll
Women's Basketball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Due to state and county regulations revolving around the coronavirus, only two Cascade Collegiate Conference basketball teams were capable of competing during the original 2020-21 season. Since restrictions have since been alleviated, the six remaining CCC women's teams will compete in a spring season.

Sports information directors from the CCC voted on the preseason spring media poll, with Eastern Oregon University grabbing a slight edge in votes. The Mountaineers picked up two first-place votes and 32 points to be the preseason favorites of the spring. EOU finished last year with a 22-10 overall mark and currently holds a 6-2 record.

Bushnell University, who last year won both the CCC regular-season and tournament trophies, was right behind EOU with 31 points, despite three first-place votes. The Beacons have played two games so far, splitting the pair with the Mountaineers to sit 1-1 on the young year.

Oregon Tech sits in third with 25 points and one first-place vote. The Owls have not yet played a game for the 2020-21 season. Corban University (fourth, 19 points), Warner Pacific University (fifth, 12 points) and Multnomah University (sixth, seven points) close out the spring poll.

"It's been quite a journey this past year," said OIT head coach Scott Meredith. "Our team has done a great job staying optimistic through months of Zoom team meetings and learning remotely. We are excited about opening up at home this weekend. I think the poll reflects how competitive our conference is and we feel we should be in the top 3 at this point. However, with such limited practice time, there is some uncertainty on how it will go. It's going to be exciting to say the least!"

Oregon Tech campus administration will be limiting the number of spectators allowed in our athletic home venues. With our limited venue capacity, we are prioritizing our Oregon Tech student athlete's family members. Oregon Tech is following current Klamath County guidelines which have recently moved into the Moderate Risk category. Moderate Risk allows for a small number of people to be allowed inside venues. Free live video of all Oregon Tech home games available here. | Live Audio here Live Stats here
