REDDING, Calif. – Oregon Tech (2-1) exploded for three first half goals, then held on to win 4-3 in overtime Sunday at Simpson Field.
"Crazy game," said head coach
Casey Tate. "The boys started really well and a lot of really good performances;
John Sarna in the first half and
Jake Mitchell (Pictured) with 3 assists.
Keanu Srivongsana,
Anthony Santillan and Cade O'Neil caused a lot of problems for them throughout the game. Our back 4 played well in the first half and just lost their way a bit in the second half.
Ryan Pearson and
Brock Rideout did a great job getting forward from the back. And a great way to end it with Brock's header and the whole team running onto the field. It was a total team effort, the sideline was into the game the whole time. Just proud of how they responded winning it in OT!"
John Sarna scored back-to-back-to back goals in the 2
nd, 28
th and 33
rd minutes to give the Hooter a 3-0 lead.
Victor Pellicano Afonso put Simpson on the board just before half to cut the Oregon Tech lead to 3-1.
Afonso scored again right at the 60
th minute, cutting the Tech lead to 3-2.
Simpson tied the game and forced overtime with a goal by Diego Alvarez with just three minutes to play.
Mitchell sent his third assist in the game across the box and Tech's
Brock Rideout ended things with a header for the game winner just five minutes into overtime.
Tech had a big 17-7 advantage in shots and a 6-4 edge in shots on goal.
