Lady Owls Blow by ‘Yotes to Win Conference Tournament

EUGENE, Ore.  -- #19 and No. 1 seed Oregon Tech (17-2) used two goals from Mehana Ortiz and Maddie Miller to defeat the No. 3 Seed (R.V.) College of Idaho (14-6) on Friday afternoon. The 4-1 victory for Tech is their 12th win a row, and debatably most important, winning their first conference tournament under HC Casey Tate.

Coming into the match, Tech had the opportunity to do a clean sweep of the CCC.

Having already won the regular season title, the opportunity to win the conference tournament was on the line, and Tech seized the moment.

In the first half, Tech's attack was held at bay, registering only 4 shots in a 0-0 stalemate.

But that wouldn't last long.

In the second half, the Lady Owls caught fire, grabbing four goals, as Ortiz and Miller both bagged a brace.

The goals for Miller brought her goal total to 7, and Ortiz' goal total rose to 12.

After the second-half onslaught, Tech finished the match having outshot the Lady 'Yotes 12-6.

Riding an 11-game win streak, the #19 Owls have a ton of momentum heading into the NAIA Opening Round that begins next week.

With an automatic bid already locked up, the Lady Owls will look to the selection show where they will likely have a #1 or #2 seed in their respective opening round.
