LA GRANDE, Ore. – After dropping the first set Saturday night 25-9 to the #12 team in the country, things did not look good for the Lady Owls, but Tech recovered and won the next three sets 25-22, 25-17 and 25-23 to shock Eastern Oregon University at the Quinn Coliseum.
"I'm incredibly proud of our resilience tonight after suffering maybe our worst loss of the season in the first set 25-9," said head coach Ken Murczek. "It would have been easy to shut it down but the girls stayed the course along with raising their level of play. I'm excited to see our effort tonight on coverage and defense. We have a lot to build on moving into the last week of the regular season."
Faith Houck-Wylie (13),
Kaylin Talonen (12), and
Nicole Reyes (8) led the Owls in kills on the night.
Tech was held to a -.132% in the first set but responded by swinging at a .341% in the third set and a .238% in the fourth to knock off the nationally ranked Mountaineers.
The win for Oregon Tech was the second time in a week that they have beaten a nationally ranked team as they also upset #23 Bushnell last Saturday night at Danny Miles Court.
Tech has now won 11 of its last 12 games and currently sit in 3
rd place in the CCC standing heading into Senior weekend next Friday and Saturday as they host Warner Pacific and Multnomah respectively at Danny Miles Court.
