Tech Draw with Warner-Pacific to Claim Share of CCC Crown

PORTLAND, Ore. - #19 Oregon Tech (15-1-1) claimed a share of the CCC Regular-Season Crown on Saturday following a 1-1 draw to Warner-Pacific (15-2-1). However, Tech will be haunted by missed opportunities, as Jake Mitchell failed to convert what would've been the game-winning penalty kick in the 105th minute. With the draw, Tech will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming conference tourney, as WPU clinched the No. 1 seed and automatic national qualifier on goal differential (+19 to +18)

"A gut wrenching ending to the game," said head coach Casey state. "The men gave everything and did enough to win against a very good opponent. The way we handled and performed in this big game was a credit to the whole team and the leadership within it. I couldn't be more proud of the group and all they have accomplished in this season. To have the best record in school history and co-conference champs is a testament to all the hard work of our players and staff."

In the first half, both teams came out with a conservative shape. With the stakes being high, neither side pushed too many numbers forward, and instead tried to build up from the back.

At the break, the score was knotted at 0, with Warner outshooting Tech 4-2.

In the second half, Tech would strike first to break the deadlock.

Cade O'Neill set up Anthony Santillan who coolly finished to put Tech ahead in the 62nd minute.

However, their lead wouldn't last long as Christian Bahena would level the scoring in the 70th.

From that point on, the chances would be limited, but it was Tech who spoiled the chance of the match. The Owls missed a PK that hit the post late in the second overtime.

The final five minutes would be an aggressive phase, as Warner picked up a red card, but ultimately the Knights would hold on to grab the result they needed.

Tech will now need to win the conference tournament or look to clinch an at-large bid to qualify for the NAIA National Tournament.

Tech will be back in action for that conference tournament match on November 9th.
