KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –The Oregon Tech track has reached substantial completion and is now open for utilization by student athletes. The $1.5 million renovations of the facility began in the summer of 2021.

The renovations and expansions include the resurfacing of the track that was 20 years old to a new state of the art Benyon BSS 300 eight lane surface, a new throwing cage, and the relocation of some field events. Future renovation is planned, as seeding and irrigation will take place in the spring. Renovations of existing restrooms and the purchasing of new track and field equipment will complete the project. When fully completed, the high-level facility will be utilized by both the Oregon Tech community and the broader region.

Athletic director John Van Dyke said, "After much anticipation, our track has reached substantial completion. What a game-changer for our athletic department but also for our campus. Our student-athletes will benefit from this first-class facility. I would like thank Dr. Nagi and the Oregon Tech Foundation for making the renovation of our track a priority."

The new track will once again enable Oregon Tech to host track meets, which creates a better student-athlete experience, while it builds community pride and enhances local economic development through increased visitors to the region. Additionally, a new track strengthens student-athlete recruitment and retention efforts, providing Oregon Tech's distinctive career-ready education—and the value that it brings—to even more talented students.

The track and field renovations are part of the larger Bringing Home the Gold campaign, which is endorsed by Olympic Gold Medalists and world-record holders, Dan O'Brien and Ashton Eaton. The on-going and campaign includes the next stage of renovating the present stadium facility and will reopen the entire facility to the public.
