KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. -– Oregon Tech head women's basketball coach Scott Meredith announced today the signing of Gabbie Gascon, a 5-5 guard from Argonaut High School in Jackson, California. 
 
After a successful freshman season in 2018-19 where Argonaut finished 23-9 and won a Sac-Joaquin Section title, Gascon returned as a sophomore and averaged 16 points, 8.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 6 steals per game for Coach Morgan Root's Mustangs while helping them earn a Mother Lode Conference Championship and another CIF Sac-Joaquin Section D4 Championship. They finished the 2019-20 season with an overall record of 30-5 and Gascon was honored as an all-league performer and was 1 of only 15 players in California selected to the prestigious D4 All-State first team. 
 
"Gabbie is excelling in a highly successful high school program at Argonaut," stated Coach Meredith. "She was named as the MLC's "Most Outstanding Player" and was chosen for the S-JS Sportsmanship Award which says a lot about her character.  Gabbie has competed in high-pressure situations on the big stage and we put a lot of value on that type of game experience. She is exceptionally quick, can hit NBA-range 3's, and brings a ton of energy to the floor. Our fans are going to have a great time watching her play for the Lady Owls."
 
Gascon is the daughter of Megan and Pete Gascon of Jackson, California. Gascon will major in Communication Studies at Oregon Tech with the career goal of becoming a head basketball coach. She will wear number 12 for the Lady Owls beginning next fall.

The 2021-22 Lady Owls start the season on the road on October 29 and 30 in Rocklin, Calif. at the Bill Holtz Classic. Tech will have games against the host William Jessup University on Friday at 2:00 PM and against California Maritime Academy, Saturday at 4:00 PM.  Tech's home opener is slated for Monday, November 8 at 5:00 PM against Linfield University.
