"Meiko is a fantastic addition to the program. He is a high level sprinter that has the ability to run all the sprints and although he has limited experience in the 400, he has great room to improve and become a national class quarter miler.  Meiko will be a strong student and great teammate that will represent Oregon Tech in all facets of being a student-athlete with integrity and class," said Kegg.

Johnson was the captain of his varsity track team at Puyallup High School. He was a junior Olympian. Meiko's personal bests are 11:39 in the 100m, 22.94 in the 200m, and 49.80 in the 400m and as most of his classmates, these marks are with limited competition as an upper classman in high school.

Meiko is the son of Sandy and Johnny Johnson and will be a pre-dental hygiene major at Oregon Tech.
