KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Jacob Garsez has been named head baseball coach at Oregon Tech, Director of Athletics John Van Dyke announced today. A Caldwell, Idaho native, Garsez comes to Klamath Falls following a four-year stint as head coach at the University of Antelope Valley.

"We are thrilled to add an accomplished coach in Jacob to lead the Hustlin' Owl baseball program," Van Dyke said. "Jacob arrives at Oregon Tech with very successful experience at the NAIA level, and first-hand familiarity with the Cascade Conference as both an associate head coach and an athlete. We are confident that he will take our program to new heights, in addition to providing our student-athletes with a fantastic experience."

Amongst many career highlights, in 2018 Garsez was able to lead Antelope Valley to a third-consecutive Cal Pac Championship, the university's first-ever NAIA Baseball Opening Round Championship, and an inaugural trip to the NAIA Baseball World Series. His team ultimately finished the season ranked sixth nationally in the final 2018 NAIA Coaches' Top-25 Poll.

Garsez brings to Oregon Tech a four-year collective record of 156-65-2 (.704) as head coach of Antelope Valley. Garsez has been named Cal Pac Coach of the Year two times (2016 & 2018), as well as being recognized as ABCA/Diamond Regional Coach of the Year in 2018. In addition to serving as Antelope Valley's head coach (2015-2019) he has served on coaching staffs at Corban University (2011-2015), and Caldwell High School (2010-2011).

Garsez is appreciative of the opportunity and is excited to arrive at Oregon Tech.

"I would like to thank Oregon Tech University, John Van Dyke, Greg Stewart, and all staff involved in the interview process. Additionally, I want to thank all previous players, coaches, and administrators for being such an instrumental part of our baseball journey and thank our families that have been very supportive," Garsez said. "Our time in college baseball has been a big part of our lives. Oregon Tech is an exceptional university that is committed to excellence in the classroom and on the field. My wife Jennifer and I are excited to be a part of building Tech baseball into a national contender in all ways and are ready to hit the ground running!"

Garsez is a 2009 graduate of College of Idaho receiving a BA in Exercise Science and holds a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from George Fox University. He and his wife Jennifer are the parents of two sons, Zander (5) and Owen (1).
