KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Oregon Institute of Technology announced late on Friday that it has parted ways with head baseball coach
Matt Miles.
"A decision has been made to move in a new direction with our baseball program." Oregon Tech Director of Athletics
John Van Dyke said. "We sincerely thank Coach Miles for his service and dedication to the student-athletes that have been part of his program during his 13-year tenure here at Oregon Tech."
Miles completes his head coaching career for the Hustlin' Owls with a 242-408 overall record across thirteen seasons. He most notably led Oregon Tech to the programs first-ever Cascade Conference Championship in 2009, as well as back to back Southern Division titles in 2009 and 2010.
Miles coached 27 individuals who garnered All-Conference recognition, along with 18 student-athletes receiving Gold Glove honors. Academically, baseball produced 91 Academic All-Conference athletes during Miles' term. Twenty-eight of those players went on to receive NAIA Academic honors.
"We appreciate Matt's committed efforts," said Van Dyke. "On behalf of our baseball program, our department, and our University, we wish him the very best with his future endeavors."
Details for a national search for a new head coach will develop soon.
