KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.-- Weber State University and Cove High School track standout Sophia Pettit will be competing for Oregon Tech track and field next year after signing a letter-of-intent head coach Jack Kegg announced today.

Jack Kegg on Pettit: "Sophia is a very high level recruit for us academically and athletically.  She will give us a strong presence in the sprints, relays, and jumps. We have had some very strong individuals in recent years at Tech, but Sophia brings another high quality female sprinter to a talented young group of sprinters.  Her raw speed will be exciting for our fans and her diversity to also be a strong jumper will give her true point scoring potential at championships."

Pettit was a standout for head coach Dena Ledbetter at Cove High School setting five school records and one state record in the 100 meter (1A), along with multiple state championship titles as an individual. She was FBLA President and Student Body Vice President, while earing three sport varsity letters. Pettit graduated as the school valedictorian.

Pettit is the daughter of Earl and Nittaya Pettit and will major in Applied Psychology at Oregon Tech.
