KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Oregon Tech head women's basketball coach
Scott Meredith announced today the signing of
Rory Schedler to a letter of intent.
Â
A 5-11 post, Schedler hails from Oregon City High School in Oregon City, Oregon where she helped her team win a Mt. Hood League Championship in 2017-18 under head coach Kurt Guelsdorf. As a sophomore, Schedler averaged 7 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist while the Pioneers made it to the second round of the Oregon State playoffs. For her efforts, she was awarded Mt. Hood Conference Honorable Mention honors.
Â
"Rory is a great addition to our trio of talented young post players," stated Meredith. "Her game is a nice combination of physicality and finesse. She really uses her body well to create space and has a soft touch on her jump shot. Creative around the basket, she can use both hands and is an excellent free throw shooter as well. Rory is an outstanding student and will give us added depth at the post. I'm really happy Rory chose Oregon Tech and I look forward to seeing her develop in this program."
Â
In the off-season, Schedler plays club basketball for Team Fly under Coach Jake Webber. She also participated in volleyball and track & field where she lettered in the javelin and shot put.
Away from athletics, Schedler enjoys crafting, hiking, traveling, baking and cooking.
Â
Schedler is the daughter of Julie and Paul Schedler. Her dad is an Oregon Tech graduate in Civil Engineering and her uncle Erich Lais, also an Oregon Tech graduate in Civil Engineering, played basketball under legendary former men's basketball coach Danny Miles in the late 1990's.
Â
"It is always a great thing to have that connection, that "Legacy," as part of the story," stated Meredith. "Rory absolutely belongs at Tech."
Â
Schedler will be majoring in Biology/Health Sciences with the career goal of becoming an OBGYN. She chose Oregon Tech because: "I like the environment surrounding the school; it's super pretty and has great views. It also sparked interest when my dad and uncle told me about it since they went there too." Schedler has two siblings, Riley and RayAnne, and will wear number 43 for the Lady Owls next season.Â
