SALEM, Ore. – The No. 8 ranked Lady Owls (7-7, 1-3 CCC) fell to No. 24 ranked Corban University (5-5, 3-1 CCC) on Saturday afternoon at the Warrior Field, with strong back-and-forth in the first game culminating in a 10-8 Cascade Conference loss and tough defense in the nightcap ending 1-0 in favor of the Warriors.
"
Lilly Poe pitched great today," said head coach
Greg Stewart. "We just fell silent in game 2 offensively. This team will move on from this tough weekend and keep working hard to put the pitching and offense together."
Game 1 Corban University 10 Oregon Tech 8
Corban raced out of the gate in the first game, scoring seven runs in the second inning. Ivey Uppinghouse started things off with a homer, batting in two runs. Megan Rybar and Kayla Bailey each scored a home run themselves, batting in one and three runs, respectively.
Tech scored two runs in the third and one in the fourth to break out of their drought, but the Warriors added one of their own in the bottom of the fourth.
Aubrie Businger scored another for the Owls in the fifth inning on a home run, putting the score at 8-4.
That changed in bottom of the inning as a Mariah Hyre homer gave Corban another run, and the team picked up their tenth in the sixth.
The Lady Owls had one final chance in the seventh and took advantage of it, scoring four runs and falling just short of tying up the game.
Businger added three hits for Oregon Tech in the game, and
Olivia Lethlean added another two. Tech held slight 10-9 edge hitting but left seven stranded on base in the game as they lacked the big hit to send them home.
Sam Woodley hit two for the Warriors, and she and Bailey batted in three runs in the game.

The second game of the day featured much less back and forth action as Tech pitcher
Lilly Poe and Corban pitcher Kaylee Brown faced off in the circle. Poe allowed only a single unearned run in the game, but Brown held out to the end to earn a complete game shutout.
Woodley earned two hits in the game for the Warriors and scored the only run.
Neenah Pangilinan, Lethlean, and Businger each tallied one hit for the Owls.
The Lady Owls will continue Cascade Conference play next weekend with their home opener against the College of Idaho. The two teams will face off in back-to-back doubleheaders at John and Lois Stillwell Stadium at 1:00pm and 3:00pm on Friday and 11:00am and 1:00pm on Saturday.
