COMPTON, Calif. – Oregon Tech (3-11) dropped two on Saturday afternoon in Compton, California as Marymount California University (5-6) swept past them to win 8-2 in game one and 7-2 in game two.

Marymount got things rolling in the first inning, scoring two runs. The Owls retaliated in the top of the second with a run of their own but were then held without a run for the next five innings as the Mariners scored six.
Tech scored a final run in the top of the eighth, but Marymount defense stopped them short and held them scoreless through the ninth as they secured their victory.
Micah Jio and
McKinnon Bennett each notched two hits for the Hustlin' Owls in the game and
Emmett Covello and
Hayden Vandehey batted in a run each.
John Muratone and Nicholas Jacobson each batted in two for the Mariners.

The Mariners once again got things started early, scoring four runs in the first inning to reach a strong advantage – one that they were able to hold through the rest of the game.
Tech's two runs came in the third and sixth innings, but Marymount added two more of their own in the third and a single run in the fifth to extend their advantage.
Josh Overstreet added two of Oregon Tech's four hits and batted in a single run. Jio batted in the other on his sole hit of the game. Overstreet also struck out seven from the mound.
The Hustlin' Owls will remain in Compton to challenge Marymount in a second doubleheader tomorrow, with games at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm before starting NAIA-West play on February 29
th and March 1
st in Vancouver, British Columbia with games against the University of British Columbia.
