KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Freshman
Maddyson Tull and sophomore
Kristin Farrell contributed career-high scoring on Saturday night at Danny Miles Court to help lead Oregon Tech (13-10, 7-6 CCC) to a 101-89 victory over Evergreen State (4-14, 4-11 CCC).
"It was good to see the Lady Owls show up in force tonight," said head coach
Scott Meredith. "We had a number of outstanding performances and our bench contributed heavily once again. Not too happy about giving up 89 points, but after the way the last couple weeks have played out, we are thrilled to get the victory on Pink Out Night for our fans."
Farrell opened the night with a three-pointer and contributed a second to boost along a 14-3 Tech run to the lead. The Lady Owls would hold the lead from that point on.
The Geoducks retaliated near the tail end of the quarter, going 14-for-4 to cut the deficit to only four points, but Oregon Tech went 8-0 into the second quarter to regain their buffer. Evergreen went 8-for-2 with help from long-range shooting from Anna Cook and Jerri Maluyo, but the Owls scored 10 to reach their largest lead of 15.
Evergreen State took control of the third quarter, with an 8-2 run boosting them to a six-point advantage in the quarter, which ended 24-18. However, Tech's advantage proved to be too much to overcome, and a 10-3 fourth quarter run wrapped up the game for the Lady Owls.
Farrell led Oregon Tech with 23 points, scoring 7-of-10 from long range. Sophomore
Courtney Clemmer and Tull followed with 20 points each. Clemmer made 10-of-11 from the field and Tull tallied six rebounds. Junior
Amanda Constant notched another 12 points and seven boards.
Trinity Betoney – who leads the Cascade Conference in points per game – took game high honors with 33 points and seven rebounds. Maluyo tallied another 20 points and seven assists and Merrily Jones and Cook rounded off the double-digit scorers with 14 and 10, respectively.
The Owls shot at 60% from the field and 58.8% from long range, thanks in part to Farrell's hot shooting.
Junior
Abby Kreiser contributed 15 assists – along with seven points and rebounds – to lead Tech to a 25-17 assisting edge. The team also took a 30-5 advantage from the bench and a 35-27 rebounding edge.
The Geoducks forced 17 turnovers while only committing 12 of their own, earning a 19-9 advantage off turnovers. Evergreen also led 42-36 in the paint.
The Lady Owls will hit the road next weekend to take on Corban University in Salem on Friday and current Cascade Conference leaders #22 Northwest Christian in Eugene on Saturday, with both games taking place at 5:30 pm. The team will return to Klamath Falls on February 11
th to take on rival Southern Oregon University at Danny Miles Court, with tipoff at 5:30 pm.
