ASHLAND -- Southern Oregon started its Cascade Conference title defense with its sharpest outing of the season, a 25-15, 25-19, 25-15 defeat of Oregon Tech in which the Raiders attacked at a .380 average on Wednesday night at Lithia Motors Pavilion.
Â
"SOU showed up tonight and we didn't play our A game, "said OIT Head Coach
Andrew Clifton. "In order to beat a team that good we have to play with more confidence."
Â
Elliott Cook went for team-highs of 10 kills and five blocks and Maddie Pernich had eight kills on 16 swings for sixth-ranked SOU (10-1 overall). The trio of Makayla Hoyt, Shelby Young and Kylie Ristvedt combined for 18 kills and just one attacking error.
Â
The Raiders went for 10 blocks as a team, holding OIT (7-4) to a .120 average.
Ashley Ripplinger led the Owls with 11 kills.
Â
The Owls will look to improve to 1-1 in the very tough CCC tomorrow when they host Walla Walla University at Danny Miles Court at 7:00 pm.
