PORTLAND, Ore. - The Oregon Tech Hustlin' Owls baseball squad fell to the Lewis and Clark College Pioneers, in a non-league contest, Friday by a final tally of 4-3 at the Huston Sports Complex.

In the first inning, Oregon Tech struck first,
Josh Kallstrom drew a walk and eventually scored on a single by
Nevan Watanabe. The Owls however would remain quiet from the scoring column until the ninth inning.

Lewis and Clark answered in the bottom of the first inning, plating two runs of their own to lead 2-1, they would add another run in the third inning to make it 3-1.

Oregon Tech would be fighting the battle of having to learn a new pitcher almost every inning, as Lewis and Clark used seven pitchers in the game with none of them throwing more than two innings. Â That pitching held the Owls to only 6 hits in the game.

OIT also had a very good showing out of its pitching staff with a strong outing by
Ian Peters. Peters gave up the three initial runs but would go on for 5-innings, striking out three Pioneer batters.

In the top of the ninth with LC leading, Oregon Tech scored two runs to tie it.
Tristan Shea would reach on an error and he scored on a double by pinch hitter
Cole Walter.
Austin Florez would keep the party going with a single to center field. He would be forced out on the next play as
Kai Fong hit into a fielder's choice, scoring Walter to tie the game. The Owls would strand two however as the game went to the bottom of the inning al tied.

A strong inning by
Carter Dahl, saw that the Pioneers go down in order, sending the game to extra innings.

In the 10th inning, Oregon Tech would have an opportunity once again to take the lead but would not be able to get the go ahead run home as the next two batters went down on strikes and a groundout stranding two runners in scoring position.

The Pioneers would take advantage of the tie in the bottom half of the inning. The leadoff batter would walk, an error would move the runner to third, and put a runner on second. The final nail in the coffin was a single, scoring the run from third, giving the Pioneers the 4-3 victory in 10 innings.

Oregon Tech falls to 5-10 on the season while Lewis and Clark picks up their first win of the season and improves to 1-8. The Owls will pick up NAIA West play Saturday in Salem, Ore. as they take on the Corban Warriors in two doubleheader contests on Saturday and Sunday.
