ATHERTON, Calif. – Battling several rain and hail delays, as well as having to switch fields in between games, No. 10 Oregon Tech and Menlo split a doubleheader Friday Afternoon. Tech took game one, 14-6 with Menlo taking game two on a 7
th inning walk off home run 9-7.
"We hit the ball well today and
Sarah Abramson pitched really good in relief to get the win in game one," said Head Coach
Greg Stewart. "Unfortunately, we lost a 6 run lead in the second game and were not able to stop Menlo's offense while our bats went silent."
Game 1 Oregon Tech 14 Menlo 6
No. 10 Oregon Tech erased a 5-3 deficit with an 8-run 5
th inning on the way to a 14-6 win.
Ali Graham hit her second homer of the season and had three-hits with three-RBI and three-runs scored to lead OIT's 14-hit attack.
Kiahna Brown (Pictured),
Dre Sotelo,
Logan Nunes and
Shelby Hotchkiss all added two-hits each in the win.
Sarah Abramson improved to 2-1 on the year as she pitched four and two-thirds innings of relief, allowing just 2-hits for the Owls.
Game 2 Menlo 9 Oregon Tech 7
OIT took an early 6-0 lead into the bottom of the third, only to see Menlo score three-runs in 3
rd and three-more in 4
th to tie the game at 6-6.
Morgan Zimmerman hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 5
th to give the Oaks a 7-6 lead.
The Owls tied the game in the top of the 7
th on a Hotchkiss single that scored
Olivia Lethlean but Menlo won the game on a two-run home run by Sarah Reyes to win in a walk-off.
McKenna Armantrout, and Brown each had two-hits to lead the Owls.
Tech will look to rebound against No. 9 ranked Hope International in a battle of two NAIA top-10 teams. First pitch will be at 11:00 am at Valley Christian High School in San Jose, Calif.
