COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Oregon Tech (11-4 CCC, 17-8) got off to a slow start Friday afternoon but eventually found its groove on the way to a 79-38 Cascade Conference win over Walla Walla University (1-14 CCC, 2-22).
"We are pleased with the outcome today, especially after a rather slow start," said head coach
Scott Meredith. "We got great minutes from our bench and rebounded well. Proud of the way the girls shared the ball and made the extra pass. Really happy with our assist and turnover numbers. Will try to do it again tomorrow night."
The Owls only led by three-points 15-12 after the first period but outscored the Wolves 17-4, 25-15, and 23-7 over the next three-quarters to take the 80-38 win.
Senior
Bailey Nelson had 15-points and 8-rebounds both game highs to lead the Owls with fellow senior
Megan Morris adding 10-points in the win.
Melissa Lee had a nice game off the bench finishing with 8-points and 7-rebounds.
Tech shot 43% making 32-of-75 from the floor, while holding Walla Walla to just 13-of-38 (34%).
The Owls out-rebounded the Wolves 42-23 and had a season low 7-turnovers while forcing WWU into 23 TO's.
The Lady Owls will stay in Washington to play Walla Walla again on Saturday night at 6:30 pm.
The Owls next home game will be Friday, February 15
th when they host No. 10 Eastern Oregon University for Blackout for Hunger night starting at 5:30 pm at Danny Miles Court.
