BILLINGS, Mon. – A good defensive effort on both sides brought Oregon Tech and Rocky Mountain College to a scoreless draw in Cascade Conference play on Friday afternoon in Billings, Montana.
"The women battled hard against a talented Rocky team," said head coach
Brandon Porter. "We were unable to get the win. We were able to salvage a valuable road point to stay within striking distance of the top of the standings, but I know we are disappointed leaving with a draw."
After sharing a few shots in the first period, Rocky (6-2-1, 3-1-1 CCC) kicked up the offense in the second, rocketing off 10 shots. However, Tech (5-2-3, 2-0-2 CCC) goalie
Jenna Stiehr was able to save three and the rest fell off target, sending the game into overtime.
The Owls tallied 12 shots in the game, of which 4 were on target. Seniors
Kylie Cowell and
Salyna Blue, junior
Kyra Mull, and freshman
Maddie Miller each contributed two shots to the team effort.
The Battlin' Bears sent out 16 shots of their own, Tiara Duford leading the way with five. Hannah Borgel and Lauryn Gamache added four and three shots, respectively.
The Lady Owls will return to Oregon Tech next weekend to face off against Eastern Oregon University on Friday and The College of Idaho on Saturday, with both games taking place at the Oregon Tech Soccer Field at 2:30 PM.
