Battlin’ Bears Battle Past Hustlin’ Owls
Men's Soccer
BILLINGS, Mon. – After ending the first half on a tie, Rocky Mountain College battled their way to the lead in the second stanza on Friday afternoon in Billings, Montana, outscoring Oregon Tech by a final of 3-1.

"The gentlemen were not up for the task against a talented Rocky team after a grueling travel segment," said head coach Brandon Porter. "We know they will respond with a positive result against Walla Walla on Sunday."

The Battlin' Bears (5-3-0, 4-1-0 CCC) started with the advantage as Pablo Ferreira kicked in a goal in the first five minutes. However, the Hustlin' Owls (5-2-2, 2-2-0 CCC) came back to tie the game with a goal from senior Joey Driessen.

Things didn't go so well for Tech in the second half as Sky Swenson and Quique Garcia each added a goal within the first ten minutes. Though the Owls were able to block all further attempts, their attempts were blocked as well.

Rocky offense was aggressive, with the team notching 26 total shots to OIT's 14. Swenson added seven himself, of which three were on target. Ferreira shot four of four on target, and Nolan Sherwood and Marco Kummerle added four shots each.

For the Owls, sophomore Anthony Santillan, senior Cade Roske, and freshman John Sarna each tallied two shots.

Tech goalie Mitchell Jillson earned nine saves over the course of the game.

The Hustlin' Owls will continue conference play on Sunday at 12:00 PM, taking on Walla Walla University at College Place, Washington.

The Owls will then return to Klamath Falls to face off against Eastern Oregon University and the College of Idaho on Friday and Saturday October 11 and 12, with both games taking place at 12:00 PM.
