COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Oregon Tech snapped a three game losing streak with a straight set sweep 3-0, (25-10, 25-17, 25-13) of Walla Walla University Sunday afternoon in Cascade Conference play at Windemuth Court. With the win OIT improved to 6-4 on the season and 1-2 in CCC play while the Wolves slip to 0-2 in the CCC and 0-3 overall.
"I was proud of the way we kept our composure today when Walla Walla pushed us at the end of this long road trip," said Head Coach
Andrew Clifton. "We are looking forward to getting in the gym and making a few changes."
In the first set WWU jumped out to a 2-0 lead, OIT then took seven of the next eight points taking a 7-3 lead and the Owls never looked back winning the set 25-10.
Tech maintained control in the second set stymieing several Wolf rallies on the way to a 25-17 win.
The third set again belonged to OIT as the Owls led early taking a 6-0 lead on the way to the 25-13 set and match win.
Tech had its best offensive rhythm of the road trip hitting .381 as a team led by
Chase Bohman 17 kills,
Camryn Johnson 10 kills and
Melody Edwards 8 kills. Bohman added a team high 12 digs to highlight the defensive effort with
Lindsey Sampson adding 11 digs.
Jaime Toedtemeier had a game high 36 assists and 10 digs in the win.
Up Next: The Owls will host Umpqua CC in a scrimmage on Wednesday at 2:00 pm before returning to CCC play Friday, September 7
th against Walla Walla at 4:00 pm at Danny Miles Court.
