Klamath Falls, Ore. – The Warriors and Owls split games on day two of the double-header weekend in similar fashion to day one. Each team takes home two wins on the weekend. The Warriors are now 11-9 while the Owls move to 6-11 in NAIA West action.
Game One:
After four scoreless innings tossed by Corban's Rilyn Lewchuk and Tech's
John Schulz, Corban started the scoring on the day with a solo home run and advancing two additional runners on the bases.
In the 6
th inning, the Warriors again solo homered. The Owls responded with two runs of their own.
Alex Poltz singled to center field, bringing home
Josh Kallstrom and advancing
Michael Tarakhchyan to third base.
Justin Jordan sent a SAC fly into the outfield, bringing home the runner on third base, bringing the score 4-2.
Corban would hit their third home run of the game in the 7
th inning, adding a fifth run to their tally. Oregon Tech picked up one additional run in the bottom of the 7
th and 8
th innings, but could not find the needed run to level the game. The final score 5-4.
Game Two:
Tech found their bats in the second matchup of the day, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the 1
st inning. The Owls scored 5 runs on 4 hits, seeing
Josh Kallstrom,
Ryan Riepma and
Austin Florez picking up RBIs and
Alex Poltz picking up 2 RBIs.
The bottom of the 4
th inning saw the Owls drive in six more runs, as
Justin Jordan and
Matthew Del Fante brought runners home, and Kallstrom and Riepma stayed hot at the plate.
The only Corban score came in the top of the 5
th inning on a solo home run.
Tech once more added to their score with Poltz, Del Fante and
Micah Jio driving home runs.
The contest concluded in the 7
th inning with the 10-run mercy rule with the score 15-1.
Josh Davis picks up the win, throwing 6 innings, giving up just 4 hits and striking out 10 batters.
Trask Telesmanich finished the game on the mound for the Owls.
The Owls will return to Kiger Stadium on Tuesday, April 3 for a double-header against Simpson University starting at 12:00pm (noon) and 3:00pm.
