Lady Owls Sweep Thunderbirds

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.-  Oregon Tech extended its win streak to 8 with a Cascade Conference doubleheader sweep of the University of British Columbia Saturday afternoon at the OIT Softball Complex. The Owls improve to 17-5 overall and 7-1 in CCC play with UBC falling to 2-4 in conference play and 3-10 overall with today's results.

Game 1 OIT 5 UBC 3

Kelly Scott pitched a complete game as she settled down after a shaky start to improve to 10-2 on the season for the Owls.

Ali Graham hit an RBI single scoring Olivia Lethlean who led off the inning with a 1-out single giving the home team a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st.

UBC answered in the top of the second as Frances Ramsay hit the team's first home run of the year, a two-run blast that gave the T-Birds a 2-1 lead.

Tech tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the inning on 3-hits highlighted by a Lethlean RBI single.

UBC took the lead back scoring their final run of the game in the top of the 3rd, taking advantage of 3-hits and a big OIT error.

The Owls would grab the lead back for good in the bottom of the 4th taking advantage of two-UBC errors that put two runners on base in front of three time All-American Tara Moates who didn't disappoint the home crowd, as she delivered a huge 2-run RBI double into the right field corner. Moates would later score off of a RBI single by Lethlean as the Owls took the lead for good 5-3.

That 5-3 score would hold through the final three innings as OIT picked up the win.

Lethlean led OIT with 3-hits in the game.

Game 2 OIT 7 UBC 4

Tech's Loryn Williams pitched the final 4 and 2/3 innings in relief, picking up her first win of the year to move to 1-1 as she allowed just 5-hits and 2-unearned runs.

Kiahna Brown (Pictured) broke-up a 2-2 tie with her team leading 4th homer of the season, a two-run blast to left field giving the Owls a 4-2 lead.

UBC tied the game at 4-4 with 2-runs in the top of the 5th on 3-hits.

Tech then scored three-runs in the 5th, highlighted by a Rachael Delamare RBI double and a 2-run homer off the bat of Sahalie Doe, her first home run of the year.

Neither team would score over the final two-innings as OIT held on for the doubleheader sweep with the 7-4 win.

Doe, Graham, and Delamare led the Owls with two-hits each in the win.

The teams will wrap up the 4-game series Sunday with a doubleheader scheduled at 11:00 am at the OIT Softball Complex.
