Clemmer Goes for 21 as Owls Down Red Hawks

REDDING, Calif. – Freshman Courtney Clemmer had a game and career high 21 points to lead the Oregon Tech Lady Owls (7-5) past the Red Hawks of Simpson University (5-6) 67-57 on Tuesday night at the James M. Grant Center.

A technical foul called on the Red Hawks for not reporting their lineup, gave the Owls an early 2-0 lead, which Simpson University soon stole with three points from Blanca Casamort Vila as SU took its only lead at 3-2. Tech sophomore Abby Kreiser regained Tech's lead with a 3-pointer before the team closed out the first stanza with an 11-2 run and never trailed again.

Simpson outscored OIT 13-12 in the 2nd quarter and 14-12 in the 4th quarter, they were unable to recover. Estella Gutierrez led their efforts, taking in 20 points, and Vila added a total of 9.

The Lady Owls bench outscored Simpson 38-19 for the game led by Clemmer's 21.

Kreiser scored 11 total, and also added nine assists. Seniors Nohea Waiwaiole and Bailey Nelson each tallied 8, with Waiwaiole also taking down 6 rebounds and Sophomore Amanda Constant taking 7.

OIT faced 14 turnovers, but also dealt 17 to SU, scoring 15 points off turnovers to 10 from the Red Hawks.

Simpson University held a 21-14 advantage from the free-throw line, but the Owls shot a perfect 14 of 14 from the charity stripe while also scoring nine more field goals 25-16 to help secure the series sweep.

The Lady Owls will return to Klamath Falls next weekend December 14 & 15 to play the Evergreen State College and Northwest University at 5:30 pm in the Danny Miles Court on Friday and Saturday, respectively in their Cascade Conference home openers.
