Carroll Slips Past Owls 1-0

HELENA, Montana – After rolling off six straight Cascade Conference wins, the Lady Owls of Oregon Tech (10-4-2, 7-3-1 CCC) dropped its second CCC match in a row with a tough 1-0 loss at Carroll College (9-6-2, 8-1-2 CCC) Friday afternoon at Nelson Stadium.

The Saints scored what would eventually be the game's only goal in the 14th minute as Katie Martin headed in a corner kick from Kristen Girolami.

This game would be worthy of being considered a tale of two halves," said Head Coach Brandon Porter. "We came out sluggish and uninspired in the first half and we were very disappointed in ourselves. However, we came out with purpose and energy in the second half and it was unfortunate that we did not get a goal with all of that effort. "We can't make excuses for our performance, we needed a full ninety-minute effort to beat a confident Carroll team and we were only able to muster half of that.  Hats off to Carroll, I think Dave Thorvilson is one of the best coaches I've had the privilege to coach against and he's done a great job with his group."
For the game Carroll held a 12-11 edge in shot with Tech holding a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal.

The Owls who have already clinched a playoff position are currently in 5th in the CCC standings with one game remaining. They will look to improve their playoff position at the University of Providence on Saturday at 2:30 pm (Pacific)
