Kallstrom Leads Hustlin’ Owls to Split with Warriors

ROCKLIN', Calif. – Junior Josh Kallstrom had six hits including two home runs and eight RBI's to lead the Hustlin' Owls to a split Saturday against the Warriors of William Jessup (3-3). WJU won the first game 8-7 with Oregon Tech (3-3) winning the night cap 11-10 at McBean Park.

The Warriors jumped out early on OIT ace Doug Molzahn scoring 4-runs on five hits in the bottom of the first inning to take a 4-0 lead.
 
Tech then answered with 3-runs in the 4th inning highlighted by a Josh Kallstrom 2-run home run to left field.
 
Kallstrom then belted his second homer of the game and season to deep left field another 2-run shot that gave OIT a 5-4 lead.
 
OIT added a run in the sixth extending their lead to 6-4.
 
Cal Koga tied the game at 6 for the Warriors in the bottom of the 7th with his own 2-run homer.
 
The Warriors then took the lead 8-6 with 2-runs on 3-hits in the bottom of the 8th.
 
Tech rallied but could only muster 1-run in the top of the 9th and lost 8-7.
 
Game 2, Oregon Tech 11 William Jessup 10
Tech scored 7-runs in the 4th inning then held on for the 11-10 win to escape with the split.
 
Kallstrom once again got the Tech offense going with an RBI single in the top of the first.
 
The Warriors scored one-run in the second and another in the third to take a 2-1 lead before Tech exploded for 7-runs in the top of the 4th on 4-hits including a 2-run single by Kallstrom, a 2-run double by Austin Zavala and a 2-run homer from Kai Fong as the Hooter went up 8-2.
 
OIT added a run in the 5th on another Kallstrom RBI to go up 9-2.
 
Back came the Warriors scoring one run in the 5th and 2-runs in the 6th to make it a 9-5 game.

Tech added two insurance runs in the 8th on a Ryan Riepma RBI single to take an 11-5 lead.
 
WJU made it very interesting adding 2-runs in the bottom of the 8th and 3-runs in the bottom of the ninth before Tech's Trask Telesmanich came in to get the final out and pick up the save, his first of the year.
 
Tech's John Schulz picked up the win in game two to improve to 2-0 on the year.
 
Besides Kallstrom's huge day, Tech was led by Zavala and Riepma with 5-hits each on the day and Blake Wrotenbery who added 4-hits in the two games.  
 
The two teams will play a double-header Sunday starting at 1:00 pm in Rocklin, California.
