PORTLAND, Ore.- Oregon Tech (5-4, 2-3 CCC) seemed to be cruising to an easy conference win after taking the first two sets 25-15 and 25-18 Saturday night at Warner PAcific. OIT committed just four hitting errors in the frames and had WPC on their heels.
Chase Bohman was nearly unstoppable for the Owls. She had 11 kills through the first two sets and finished with a match high 25.
The Knights then flipped a switch in between sets two and three, and WP hitters began to find holes in the Owl defense. Warner Pacific coaxed eight attacking errors from OIT in the third set thanks in part to three blocks at the net, and also served over two aces.
Set four also belonged to WP, as the Knights broke a 16-16 tie and finished out the frame with a 9-4 run.
The teams traded points in the deciding set until the score read 6-6, then Warner Pacific took advantage of three Owl errors while Lauren Tennyson and Jordan Hunter put down two kills each to complete the comeback.
"This was a tough loss for us tonight," said Oregon Tech Head Coach
Andrew Clifton. "We had a hard time adjusting to the changes they made in game 3 and just didn't recover from our errors fast enough. This weekend proves how good the CCC is this season. Anyone can beat anyone and everyone is good."
The Hooter will return home to the friendly confines of Danny Miles Court next Friday and Saturday hosting Evergreen State and Northwest University respectively.
