REDDING, Calif. -  The Oregon Tech Volleyball Team got off to a good start in its final game of the Simpson Tournament winning the first set 27-25 over William Jessup University. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of the afternoon as the Owls dropped the next 3-sets to lose its first match of the year 3-1 (25-27, 25-14, 25-16, 25-17) to the Warriors Friday afternoon.

Tech got down early in the first set 5-1, but mounted a nice comeback to take the lead 17-14 and eventually win the set 27-25.

William Jessup powered its way past Tech in the final three sets with a .250 Kill percentage compared to just .086 for the Owls.

"We showed a lot of promise in the first game and came back from a slow start," said Head Coach Andrew Clifton. "In the second game through the fourth, unforced errors where too much to overcome. We know what to work on and we just need to get in the gym and smooth them out. The team competed hard and we can build on that."

For the match OIT was led by Chase Bohman with 16 kills and Bailey Nelson with 11 kills.

Jaime Toedtemeier had 36 assists for Tech in the loss.

The Warriors dominated the Hooters with a 10-3 edge in blocks and a 71-50 edge in points.

The Lady Owls will stay on the road with a match in Portland, Oregon against Concordia University on Monday August 28th before hosting its home and Cascade Conference opener on Friday, September 1st against perennial powerhouse College of Idaho at 7:00 pm at Danny Miles Court.
